UBJoyous, our empowerment counseling service, was created to help you manage addictions, binge eating, emotional eating, anorexia, weight issues, anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma to live fuller, happier, more productive lives. We help you transform your relations to food, body and relationships so they may serve you, not dominate you. Help is here! UBJoyous, a startup by two Columbia University alumnae with similar experiences and diverse backgrounds, is here to assist you in separating yourself from your affliction.

How it works .

Our goal is to empower you inside and out, using holistic, evidence-based practice methods, including:

to help you change negative thinking patterns;

to help you manage your emotions and improve your relationships;

 including drawing, painting, clay, and digital media;

to help you explore and resolve ambivalence about changing your behavioral patterns;

that involve role-playing and reenactment of your previous life scenarios so you can gain healthy perspective on them; and

to help you construct a healthy diet, a substance-free lifestyle, and a beneficial fitness regimen.

My bio

Who am I .

Faryal joins our group practice bringing her commitment to making a positive impact on people’s lives by assisting them through life’s challenges. She has  experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. Some of her areas of expertise include dealing with depression or anxiety, anger, domestic violence, drug abuse, grief and loss, post-traumatic stress disorder, various forms of addiction and adjusting to life changes. She also has experience working with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a therapist and a social worker, she integrates a variety of techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, Interpersonal psychotherapy, creative visualization, breath work, yoga, meditation, DBT, motivational interviewing and psychodrama.

Faryal holds a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s from the University of Michigan. She has worked in Life Stream Behavior Center, Refuge, a Healing Place, and also Serenity of Central Florida. Faryal applies a holistic treatment approach with a conviction that each patient has an innate ability to restore their health when provided with an environment that is secure and conducive for healing.  Faryal is a registered clinical social work intern meeting her licensing requirements set by the state of Florida.

Faryal is empathetic and focuses on the individual needs of each client. She addresses their concerns in a caring manner and follows through to check on their progress and ensure that they are recuperating. When she is not attending to patients, you will find Faryal pursuing her interests in painting, boxing, tennis and swimming.

When life challenges beckon, it is important to have a caring person who listens and walks with you through difficult moments.
